It became a drama yesterday in Kano High Court as a man name Umar Yakubu was sentence to death by hanging for stabbing his friend, Ibrahim Adamu, 22, to death during an argument over N20 loan.

Yakubu, who resides at Sabuwar Gandu Quarters in Kano, was convicted on a one-count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code Law.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Lamido Soron-Dinki, told the court that on June 13, 2018, at about 11 a.m in Sabiwar Gandu Quarters, Kano, the convict asked the deceased to give him a loan him of N20.

Soron-Dinki said the convict the stabbed the deceased in the chest with scissors during an argument over the N20 loan.

Soron-Dinki presented six witnesses before the court while the convict defended himself.

Justice Dije Aboki who delivered the judgement held that the Prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubts.

The President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has applaud the new British Prime minister, Boris Johnson for the appointment of Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch, a United Kingdom-born Nigerian as Minister of Children and Families.

Describing her appointment as “well-deserved,” the President urged the 39-year to regard her new position as an opportunity to justify the confidence reposed in her by making lasting impact.

The Nigerian leader, who said he had no doubt that Badenoch would succeed given her academic qualifications and parliamentary experience, also enjoined the junior minister to see herself as an ambassador of her fatherland in conduct and performance.

Acknowledging that Badenoch’s appointment is a plus for Nigerians in Diaspora, President Buhari said “it further confirms my belief that with hard work and integrity, Nigerians can excel in their chosen professions and fields of endeavour anywhere in the world.”

The President, while also applauding Prime Minister Johnson for finding Badenoch suitable, wished her success in the new challenging role.

The former Governor of Edo state who is also the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said under his leadership as APC chairman, he successfully uncover every evil plan by the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his team, politically, in Kwara.

Oshiomhole who was in the State House yesterday for a meeting with President Muhamamdu Buhari when he answered several questions from the state house newsmen.

Just after a week the president of the federal republic of Nigeria submitted the ministerial list for screening the Senate has confirmed all 43 ministerial nominees  week.

This was confirm today after a week screening for all the name submitted by the president. The last three was  screened today which are, Mr Lai Mohammed, Sabo Nanono and Saleh Mamman.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced that they are ready to provide loans to investors who are interested in tapping into its milk production initiative.

This announcement followed the restriction placed on access to foreign exchange by the apex bank in order to reduce milk importation in the country.

The Governor of CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele, talk about the financing plan of the apex bank on Monday, via the bank’s Twitter handle, adding that it is determined to end milk importation in Nigeria and provide adequate loans.

Recent development: Earlier last week, the CBN Chief disclosed to operators in the industry that milk and some other dairy products would be restricted from accessing foreign exchange, both at the official and parallel markets and urged investors to invest in ranches.

Meanwhile, there was controversy surrounding the disclosure, as a section of the media reported that the CBN had banned the importation of milk and other dairy products in Nigeria.

The announcement also generated widespread criticisms, as big operators in the industry expressed concerns and felt coerced to participate in the proposed policy. Many stressed that the bank failed to check the existing business model that would be suitable for their businesses.

Following this, the apex bank broke the silence on Friday, disclosing that milk importation is not banned as against widespread reports.

“For the avoidance of doubt, milk importation is not banned. Indeed, the CBN has no such power. All we will do is to restrict the sale of forex for the importation of milk from the Nigerian foreign exchange market.”

Provision of loan: The latest announcement made by the CBN is basically a follow-up on its disclosure in a press release last week that funds would be provided to investors who are genuinely ready to engage in milk production.

“We wish to reiterate that we remain ready and able to provide the needed
finance to enable investors who genuinely want to engage in milk production.

“We are saying that the amount we spend on the importation of milk in this country is too high, we need to reduce it.”
